Blow test before the blow-in cellulose insulation installation. Actually, it's pretty awesome -- the house was noticeably warmer when the work was completed.

I noticed what appears to be a growing collection of screws, bolts and nails amidst the acorn caps on the roof of our bulkhead; not really sure what to make of that, but it doesn't seem like a particularly good thing.

We don't really care for the style, but at the moment, it does have the benefit of giving the room a tidier appearance.

148/365 Double trouble

148/365 Double trouble

I heard a bunch of scratching and tapping around the ceiling while sitting at the computer in my home office today. And when I went out to see what was going on, I discovered that our intruder is back, and this time, it looks like he brought along the fam. And even worse, when I came back inside, I could hear them scurrying *inside* the walls.

We've got somebody coming by the house tomorrow -- hopefully they can take care of the problem.

At this point, I'm frustrated enough with these guys (roof damage, strawberry raids, pear consumption) that I don't think we're going to be "nice" about it this time, keeping in mind that I'm not too keen on having critter carcasses decaying inside our walls (nor the accompanying fly problem). But we'll be evaluating all our options.

Heard a lot of knocking and scratching around the ceiling of my office in the house. When I went outside to investigate, apparently so did its source.

Really hoping they're only in the gutters and we get them out of there before they get into the soffits or attic.

26/365 Back on line

The Boiler had shut off because the water level had gotten too low.

Unfortunately, we seem to have a leak in one of the radiators, so the boiler loses water over time. When the water level gets too low, a failsafe shuts the boiler off -- which is good, or it'd probably burn the house down.

Of course, if you're not paying attention and don't check up on things on a regular basis (which happens a lot in our house), it gets REALLY COLD before you notice things are amiss and then takes a while for things to warm back up again.

On the other hand, at least it gave me something interesting to use as a photo subject for an otherwise uninspiring day.
