I've been noticing the difference in shape and color of the new leaves coming up with the raspberry flower buds.

These are the raspberry plants we brought over from the old house. It's interesting that they're blooming later than the "golden raspberry" plant this year as compared to last year when the goldens didn't really produce much at all.

Temperatures were forecast to be down in the 30s last night, so we busted out some cover for our tomato seedlings. Better safe (and silly-looking) than sorry, dontcha know.

Perhaps this is why we didn't get that many cherries last year. Trying an organic insecticide soap spray on (literally) the low hanging fruit, to see if it'll salvage some of the ones that are still unharmed.

Tomato seedlings have made landfall. It's looking like we will once again have more tomatoes than we will know what do with this summer.

We haven't seen the sun in a couple of days, but the fields are looking pretty nice right about now. Had a layout D (unsuccessful) in the endzone tonight and other than the disappointment of not blocking the disc, it was still soft and pillowy.

Not shown in the photo is the large dirt patch where grass never grows because it's always being torn up by soccer players, and yes, even us frisbee players. (Although I'd like to think we try harder to not play when the ground is really soft... not that it matters, because there will always be people who'll come and shred the field.)

The nice clean rows of peas are looking a bit like morse code now. Really hoping we don't have some neighborhood critters that are going to create a problem in the garden this year.

It's the middle of March, but the spring flowers are still novel.

It reached the mid-60s today -- I even went for a run outside in SHORTS today. And totally expected to get caught in a freak snowstorm or something, because I know that's just how New England weather rolls sometimes.

It seems like it's finally that time of year.

The seedlings were grown from seeds I collected from some of the tasty tomatoes we got from the CSA last summer. I think they were orange banana tomatoes, which actually sounds like I'm naming 3 fruits. We've had pretty good luck with stuff in the garden seeding in in the past, so hopefully these guys will do alright and will actually bear fruit.

Unfortunately, we didn't get our act together to sign up for the CSA in time this year, but we'll probably have our hands (and tummies) full with our own garden, not to mention overflow production from the SOOTTAD's parental homestead gardens. Kinda nice to actually have some time to plan for this stuff this year.

And as another comment on the weather, I've actually gone on my last 3 runs in shorts. (all afternoon runs, but still...)
