I feel like this photo is kind of a cop-out, but I didn't really get out of the house today -- worked from home because I was feeling a bit under the weather -- so I didn't really have much material to work with.

Wanted to look at the comic subplot in Watchmen, what with the movie opening... in, like, 15 minutes. Ended up falling into the Dark Knight Strikes Again series (Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns sequel). Probably a good think we didn't get tickets for the midnight showing -- I have enough trouble staying up late to begin with, and add in being a school night and not feeling 100% and you have a whole lot of doing the right thing.

This is actually my 2nd copy of Watchmen -- my original disappeared a few years ago because I can't remember who I lent it to.

Hunger

Just got a link to this via Twitter from Cammy:

I'm not a big fan of Tyson Foods, but they're supposedly donating 35 pounds (translating to 140 meals) for each pledge at this website. If the goal of 1,000 people taking the online pledge is reached, a semi-trailer filled with 140,000 meals will arrive at the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas in Austin during the SXSW ’09 Interactive Festival.

Pledge to end hunger.

And for you local folks, while we're on the topic of giving, please check out Project Bread (who sponsor the annual Walk for Hunger) and the Greater Boston Food Bank.

And for you non-local folks, I'm sure you can find something local to you guys, right? Or maybe this can help.

Last one to leave the office again.

Fortunately, it was only 6:15PM -- most people are in and out on the earlier side, and no 10+ hour work days here.

Except when I'm working from home it seems, and am trying to finish a spec for a deadline. Like Sunday night / Monday morning... Oy.

60/365 A Clear Path

60/365 A Clear Path

Just a light dusting this morning. The SOOTTAD swept a path clear on her way to get coffee for herself and a friend who was visiting this weekend.

The snow apparently continued through most of the day, but we thankfully ended up with maybe an inch of accumulation which was easily cleared. Unfortunately, forecasts are less than optimistic for the next day or two. (It'd be a good option to work from home, but I think I need to be in the office tomorrow.)

My suede-soled Vans apparently match the carpet at Springstep in Medford, MA.

The dance tonight was part of the "Sweet Molasses Blues" weekend and was heavy on the slower tempo songs. Had a few good dances, but also a few... not... which gets kinda frustrating.

I've had better days.

I was feeling all good about myself for having my car inspected before the inspection sticker expired at the end of this month. So, of course, it failed the safety inspection and I ended up spending over $1500 replacing the struts, strut mounts and lower support arms.

On the plus side, the ride seems smoother, so I guess they really did need replacing... always so hard to tell whether you're getting screwed or not.

First real run since the injury -- 2 miles on the treadmill averaging slightly more than 9 minute miles. It feels good to be back, even if it's only baby steps.

Although the need to ice afterwards kinda sucks a bit. (and this the day after the first night out dancing for real. which also needed some serious icing. And ibuprofen.)

Totally stuffed. Just gotta mention that this year's soup was the best we've done so far. NOM.

Ok, gotta get to bed so I can be up early tomorrow morning, by which I mean before 9.

Late start for Noodlefest this year.

Things have been kind of crazy the past few weeks, so we weren't really able to lay in supplies (this year, from the Kam Man Market in Quincy) until late this evening. (Friday) It didn't help that we made a wrong turn trying to get there.

We finished the first pass of the process sometime around 1AM. (yes, I back-dated this post. I think I've warned people.) We'll kill the burner in a few minutes and let the residual heat cook it down overnight and then give it another hour or two in the morning before we strain the broth and pull out the meat.

Oy. So much for getting my sleep cycles back in sync. I did pretty well last night and was on track today. Oh well. At this point, I'm willing to be skewed late so long I don't get sick. I seem to have fought off whatever was giving me that mini sore throat yesterday.

The table had lights (and apparently light sensors) built into it so that when you moved things over the surface, the intensity of individual lights would increase. Cool, although occasionally uncomfortably bright given the relatively low ambient lighting.
